Text Box: Sibuyan in danger, mining map shows
In a recent document produced by experts of Sibuyan ISLE, based on maps from mining applications and data from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), its shows that there are more or less twenty companies and individuals who are applying for exploration and mineral production sharing agreement applications, including some small-scale mining applications filed at the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB). The red areas indicate the applications and four small-scale mining operations. Areas within the villages of Canjalon, Otod, Azagra, Campalingo and Panangcalan (San Fernando) will still be plotted.

(Australia) and mining giant BHP Billiton (United Kingdom/Australia) filed strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP) that is grave coercion against the protestors during the October 3, 2007 tragic picket in Sibuyan Island, province of Romblon, Philippines. more
